Canada Geese are probably the most common goose in the mid-western USA. They have a black head, with a white area that looks a little like this:

They have a long black neck, though you can’t see much of it on the picture above. the bottom most part of the neck is white, going down to the upper chest, and turning into white with long, skinny, light brown speckles. On the back and wings, the feathers are light brown, with white edges.
Baby geese are called goslings.
