History lesson #45

How The Roman Empire‘s collapse led to new (Forest) glass

“Glass” I say. “was invented in the Roman Empire and was very popular in the entire empire. Roman glass was very clear and colorless. Then the empire collapsed. It declined in use for a while. Then it picked up again in the middle ages.”

“This middle-aged glass (forest glass) was very different from the Roman glass.” I said “It was discovered by experiment, and the most early forest glass was brown or green. But, as people learned more about the forest glass, they made more colored glass (stained glass).”

“They used the stained glass for things like windows and other decorative purposes.” I said “another use of forest glass is tableware.”

I said, “it is called forest glass because it was made in forests.”

Scarlet Macaws

I think Scarlet Macaws are the most beautiful animal of the sky. Scarlet Macaws have blue wings with a red head slightly going into the wing. Just below the red on the wing, is yellow. The tail feathers are red. Sometimes, there is green between the yellow and blue, sometimes just mixed in with the yellow, between the red and blue.

Penguins 🐧

Penguins live in the most southern part of the world. Mostly Antarctica and the Sothern ocean borders of Australia, New Zealand, and south America. Penguins are masters of water. They have a turbo system to get out of the water. Penguins’ backs are black, and the fronts are white. Chicks’ color are grey whereas King Penguin chicks are brown.

History lesson #40

My favorite lesson in History 4, up to lesson 40.

My favorite lesson in History 4, up to lesson 40 was the crossbow. The crossbow is easier to use. You can train an army to use crossbows in a week. Bow and arrows take longer to train people to use. Crossbows are easier to fire, for they only have a trigger, instead of pulling the cord on a bow. The crossbow was invented by the Chinese during the warring states period. The crossbow is a machine that shoots small, sharp ammo called bolts. I think crossbows are cool ’cause they are the easier-yet-more-powerful-than-a-bow-and-arrow weapon. Crossbows give you better aim than a bow-and-arrow because they have an area the bolts fire from. Crossbows are usually made of wood. Crossbow bolts can piece heavy armor like a knight’s.

Mute Swans

Okay, I’m getting right down to the point. Mute swans (like most) are mostly white, this one has a slight tan on the lower middle to the head. The eyes are black and look a little like a can of black spray paint, spraying;

Geese

Canada Geese are probably the most common goose in the mid-western USA. They have a black head, with a white area that looks a little like this:

My drawing of a goose head.

They have a long black neck, though you can’t see much of it on the picture above. the bottom most part of the neck is white, going down to the upper chest, and turning into white with long, skinny, light brown speckles. On the back and wings, the feathers are light brown, with white edges.

Baby geese are called goslings.
