How The Roman Empire‘s collapse led to new (Forest) glass
“Glass” I say. “was invented in the Roman Empire and was very popular in the entire empire. Roman glass was very clear and colorless. Then the empire collapsed. It declined in use for a while. Then it picked up again in the middle ages.”
“This middle-aged glass (forest glass) was very different from the Roman glass.” I said “It was discovered by experiment, and the most early forest glass was brown or green. But, as people learned more about the forest glass, they made more colored glass (stained glass).”
“They used the stained glass for things like windows and other decorative purposes.” I said “another use of forest glass is tableware.”
I said, “it is called forest glass because it was made in forests.”
