“‘But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. He said, “All these people are united and speak the same language. That is why they can do all this. Come on! Let us go down and mix up their language. Then they will not be able to understand one other.’ So the LORD scattered them from there over the whole earth. And they stopped building the city.” -Genesis 11:5-8
Today my assignment is this: Where would I go if I was at the tower of Babel just after God confused the languages and found a group of people who could speak my language and we moved?
It depends on whether or not I can cross bodies of water. Assuming I can’t, I would probably go to modern-day Spain or Portugal, considering that I like warm weather, but not tropical. I would want a place to raise cattle and wheat and tomatoes and cucumbers and pigs. The Italian Peninsula might be an interesting place to settle.
If I could cross water, I might go to England or Ireland. I think the voyage across the Atlantic would be too much for me.
So, depending on my current abilities, I would go someplace in Europe.
